主人公阿廖沙的童年很悲惨。阿廖沙父母双亡，而外祖父脾气十分暴躁，只有外祖母疼爱他。外祖父不太喜欢他，两个舅舅更是讨厌他。在这样恶劣的环境下，他走过来了。其实，阿廖沙的原型就是高尔基本人，高尔基借阿廖沙这个人物来描述自己的童年。这令我深深地体会到了当时那个年代的人的丑陋面目。高尔基的童年跟我们现在比起来，实在是太悲惨了！
